A Name That Carries Presence
The name Roksolana was never just aesthetic to me - it was chosen because it carries history.
In Ukrainian history, Roksolana refers to a woman who moved across cultures and shaped her position through intelligence and composure rather than display. She is often remembered for her influence, but what has always interested me is her restraint. Her strength was strategic. Quiet. Observant.
When I was choosing a name for the brand, I did not want something decorative or trend-led. I wanted something rooted. Something that acknowledged where I come from, and the textile traditions I grew up around, but that could also live comfortably in London and further afield.
Over time, the name has come to represent a particular kind of presence. Roksolana is not about fragility. It is not confined to one role or one interpretation. It allows space for the person wearing it.
For me, Roksolana reflects a balance between heritage and modern life. Between the discipline I absorbed growing up around Ukrainian craftsmanship and the clarity of living in London.
When we design, that balance matters. Strength should feel natural. Elegance should not require explanation. Clothing has to support the person wearing it rather than define them.
The name is a reminder that identity is built slowly. Through consistency. Through refinement. Through choices that are not always visible.
That is what I want Roksolana to carry.
The Founder
Roksolana was founded in London by Oleksandra Liakh and shaped by a European sensibility rooted in craftsmanship and quiet precision. Every detail reflects a disciplined approach to fibre, form, and proportion.
What began as a personal pursuit of refinement evolved into a considered practice - where luxury is made by hand, design is intentional, and style exists quietly between moments, beyond trends.
